Partai Nasional Demokrat

My attempt from being a successful professional, having worked for Fortune 500 MNC at Senior Regional position (living abroad for many years) to politics is triggered by the search of truth.

That truth is to gauge if the government is ready to avail the same dignity to its diaspora for having made the sacrifice for serving their country.

It has been 6 months of campaigning, I had challenged my agility to fit into politics, learning new things and mainly teaching people how to be professional and to conduct themselves from that space of integrity.

In reality, politics have put me in uncomfortable zone, where I witnessed attempts of being tricked and trapped. As I write this, I am still not giving up, I am awaiting that end results, and that end result is to see if I get the same treatment, honor and dignity which I had experienced during my professional journey.

Doing good for the country is almost the desire of all diaspora, but not at the cost of sacrificing your true self.

Being passionate about trade and negotiation, I brought an agenda for my constituents on online trading, helping the country's economy to close it's trade gaps and fostering economy.

My approach and strategies are different from other running candidates, I don't believe in listening to hundreds of demands of my constituents, I believe in helping them see the future and providing them a guided directions on how to earn a livelihood in the era where technology is replacing humans.

I often talk about "not selling their votes" for a meagre "envelope money".

My campaign is directed at opening their eyes on the future, teaching them "anti corruption" practices, hence my campaign slogan is CALEG BERSIH.

If I fail, which maybe most likely for someone who do not exercise "unruly" dirty campaign tactics, then this will send a loud message to other professionals, and that message would be "there is no dignified place for professionals in the legislative or executive system".

Either case, before returning to my professional life, this stint in politics would have been a good learning, one that would be an asset for my professional journey moving forward.

I urge all professionals to make an attempt to be of service to your country, in the most dignified and high integrity manner.

Live life like you have nothing to lose, do the right thing.

Thank you,

Warm regards,
Shanti Ramchand Shamdasani
